  • BSI Learning expands inmate education to NSW

    Minister for Corrections David Elliott on the 24th of May, 2017 announced BSI Learning had won the contract to deliver the majority of the education and training in NSW prisons.

    Smart and Skilled

    Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It's helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.

    Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:

    • an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III
    • government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

  • Changing Lives / Hope Foundation

     

    Challenge:
    Women with addictions and/or working in the sex industry need to change their lives to avoid imprisonment, loss of child custody and premature death.

    Outcome:
    Over a 12-month period, BSI Learning changed the mindsets and lives of approximately a dozen women who either completed and/or continued their study arrangements.

  • Empowering effective leaders / NSW Aboriginal Land Council


     Challenge:
    The NSW Aboriginal Land Council required culturally relevant leadership training aimed to improve the welfare of Aboriginal people.

    Outcome:
    The BSI Learning’s demonstration of cultural understanding and respect resulted in high engagement levels and participation, resulting in motivated and confident leaders.

  • Ending Recidivism / QLD Corrective Services

     

    Challenge:
    Recidivism rates of approximately 65% in Queensland demonstrate the transient nature of incarceration for ending crime.

    Outcome:
    Over a 30-month, as part of the Pathways2Employment program, BSI Learning helped 25.7% of participants to gain employment and 17.9% retain employment for at least 13 weeks.

    Since organisations in the top tier of financial performance have more women in leadership roles, why does gender inequality still exist in leadership?

    After reading the research undertaken by DDI Worldwide regarding diversity and gender inequality I was very keen to learn more about why this underrepresentation exists. Therefore I decided, with one of our directors, to sponsor the American Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership Executive Tutorial to learn more about gender inequality in leadership.
