Client - The NSW Aboriginal Land Council

Organisational Need

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council is the state’s peak body in Aboriginal Affairs. The CEOs and Councillors of Local Aboriginal Land Councils along with Senior Managers from LG, ASICS, Hilti and the Australian Rugby Union required enhancing their leadership skills. The real success was reliant upon culturally appropriate and organisationally relevant content and delivery, from both the participants’ perspective as well as the community members they serve.

Solution

The six-day BSB51107 Diploma of Management: Leadership Managing People was delivered over eight months and tailored to achieve two objectives. The first was to ensure the very senior yet diverse group of experienced leaders were inspired and engaged with innovative, practical and thought provoking concepts and thinking. The second was to demonstrate cultural understanding and respect for diversity. Both these objectives would ensure the participants would readily engage with and embrace the content and the learning experience.

Desired Outcomes

High engagement levels and participation resulting in renewed vigour and motivation to approach community and business problems from new perspectives.

Results

Personal attention to each and every participant created a sense of comfort and confidence for active participation during the course. The program created a process for community leaders to starburst ideas and resolve business issues. The participants thoroughly enjoyed and embraced the learning, providing the following feedback:
